The Town of Esopus Recreation Commission shall consist of five Commissioners who shall be residents of the Town and shall serve at the pleasure of the Town Board for a term of five years, and the members of such Commission first appointed shall be appointed for such terms that the term of one Commissioner shall expire annually thereafter; and their successors shall thereafter be appointed to serve terms of years which shall total in number the membership of such Commission. The Summer Program Director, chosen by the Town Board, and a parks employee employed by the Town of Esopus shall serve as ex officio members of the Commission.

The Town of Esopus Recreation Commission shall advise the Town Board, notwithstanding the terms set forth above, for the purpose of identification, coordination and systemization of all the recreation needs of the Town of Esopus, including but not limited to playgrounds, parks, neighborhood recreation centers, events and festivals, with all the powers and responsibilities of local authorities under Article 13 of the General Municipal Law.

Town Park Rental

The Town of Esopus has two parks, Ross Park and Freer Beach, which may be reserved and rented from May 1st, 2013 through October 13th, 2013. Applications for the 2013 season will be accepted on or after April 1st, 2013.
Applications must be completed at the Town Clerk's office at Town Hall when payment is made. Please call the Town Clerk at 845-331-3709 for availability.

Resident Park Rental Fee $50
Non-resident Park Rental Fee $200
Kitchen Fee (Freer Beach only) $25
Trash Removal Deposit $75
Alcohol Permit Fee $50 (plus insurance)
Alcoholic beverages will be allowed provided that insurance coverage is obtained for at least $1,000,000.00 (one million dollars) listing the Town of Esopus as an additional insured. This policy must be filed with the Town Clerk at least 10 (ten) days prior to the date scheduled for the event.

Summer Camp

For: Youth Ages 5-13 years old (Must turn 5 by December 1, 2013)
When: June 24- August 9 (no camp on July 4), 9 am- 3 pm Monday- Friday
Where: Ross Park, Port Ewen, NY

Summer Camp Fees:

  • Residents: $200 for 1st child and $75 for each additional child
  • Non-Residents: $250 for 1st child and $100 for each additional child

Registration takes place in the Community Room at the Town Hall

  • Residents: May 7th, 6-8PM
  • Non-residents: May 8th, 6-8PM

NEEDED:  Copies of:

  1. Birth certificates (for new participants only)
  2. Proof of residency (for new participants only)
  3. Immunization record
  4. Cash or check for payment

ALL REGISTRATION FEES MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE 1ST DAY OF CAMP

We are currently accepting applications for Camp Counselors for our Summer Camp program. Prospective counselors must complete the following three (3) forms and return them to Kathy DiSciullo no later than April 27th, 2012.

Completed forms may be left at Town Hall during normal business hours, or mailed to:
