PUBLIC COMMENT:
Ira Weiner - West Park: Due to the untimely death of Building Inspector Peter
Ungerland, Ira Weiner was curious to know how things were going in the Building
Dept. and what are we doing to fill the position? Supervisor Rice answered the town has established
procedures. Don Otis, Town of Gardiner
Building Inspector will work Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and the City of
Kingston will also do inspections.
Ira Weiner also asked who the
town employees were who qualified under the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Retirement and
Supervisor Rice answered Bob Koskie, John Meehan, Al Larkin, Orlando (Butch)
Landi and Don Kiernan.
Supervisor Rice made the
following statement:
“Ira,
I understand that you made a comment on your program concerning
one
of our economic development loans – Quote “Insider stuff going on here”.
“Ira,
I realize that you’re the Town Republican Chairman and that this is
an
election year and ordinarily I ignore your carping comments, but I can’t
sit
by and listen to you impugn the integrity of our Economic Development
Committee.”
“The
Town of Esopus Economic Development Committee is a completely
apolitical
group of Town businessmen who have donated their time and
experience
to our Town. Their decisions have
always been fair and above board and for you to imply that there is “insider
stuff going on” is just more of your cheap campaign rhetoric and a real
disservice to the volunteers on the committee.”

Esopus Economic Development Committee include:
