TOWN BOARD RESOLUTIONS:

1.   RECOGNITION OF BOY SCOUT MATTHEW SOLAAS

Supervisor Rice made the following statement:

“In my opinion, Esopus is a very special place–and one of the things that makes it special to me are the number of our residents who are willing to volunteer their time for the betterment of our community.  Time is a precious commodity for all of us – we never have enough – but somehow our residents find the time to volunteer for our five volunteer fire companies, our volunteer ambulance squad, and our volunteer Town boards – our Planning Board, our Zoning Board of Appeals, Recreation Board, Waterfront advisory Board, Environmental Board, Economic Development Committee – it’s a long, long list.

Think about what would happen to all our youth programs if it weren’t for all our volunteers – no Little League – no Basketball Leagues – no Soccer Leagues – no Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts or Brownies.  It would be very bleak without all those volunteer programs.  Tonight we are going to recognize just one of those volunteers.

Matthew Solaas, as part of a Boy Scout Program, organized a food drive to collect food for needy families in the Town of Esopus.  His effort was quite successful – he collected almost 200 pounds of food which our Town Clerk delivered to the Robert Graves School Nurse for distribution.

Matthew, this is your introduction to volunteering for your community – keep us in mind – your community always needs volunteers.”

A Certificate of Recognition was then presented by Supervisor Rice to Matthew Solaas by the Esopus Town Council in appreciation for his efforts in organizing a food collection event for needy families in the Town of Esopus.
