A NOTE FROM WATER & SEWER SUPERINTENDENT, NICK BUTLER, REGARDING HARMFUL ALGAL BLOOMS (HABs)
We’ve had a few questions about if and how recent HABs affect our drinking water. Rest assured: Port Ewen Water District tap water remains safe to drink.
All Hudson 7 communities are working closely with their respective County DOH and NYS DOH partners to monitor and protect our water supply.
A few tips to keep in mind:
– Avoid swimming, drinking, or letting pets/livestock near water with scum, mats, or unusual colors.
– Do not use untreated river or creek water for drinking or cooking.
If you spot a suspected HAB, report it (photos encouraged): https://ow.ly/WY0k50WVm5r
