In 2011, the Esopus Tugboat Trail was created to commemorate the Town of Esopus’ bicentennial. Artists, residents and businesses designed and painted model tugboats which were displayed throughout the town.
The Tugboat Trail proves so popular that it has continued each summer and become a much-anticipated tradition. Each year new “tug artists” design and decorate a new fleet for the upcoming summer-long roadside display.
For 2020 we have 10 new tugboats and we are looking for designers.
In the past many designers have requested to purchase their finished tugboat. This year unpainted boats may be purchased for $350. Once the design is complete the purchaser has the option to display on the Tugboat Trail.
