Custodial Worker at Esopus Town Hall


Scrupulous and efficient custodian sought for part time work at Esopus Parks & Town Hall. Serves under the direction of the Buildings and Grounds Department and Town Supervisor.


We are currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Custodial Worker / Janitor. The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, flexible and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises. The person will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing common areas, offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, dining room and public areas of buildings and areas owned and operated by the Town of Esopus. In addition, duties related to HVAC management, basic parks management (unlocking park gates in the morning) and commercial oven filtration maintenance are expected.   • Perform general clean-up of all areas of the building and offices as directed
  • Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas, landscaping at Town hall and parking lot
  • Complete daily cleaning as directed, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing and dusting
  • Remove garbage and recycling daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up
  • Handle basic maintenance, building repairs, cleaning and other janitorial work
  • Uses own vehicle for morning park openings, daily mail and bank courier pick up / drop off
  • Ensure doors are locked after party rentals and guests are informed of guidelines
  • Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests
  • Perform minor repairs and notify supervisor of major repairs needed
  • Ensure rooms are maintained and fully equipped, including ordering and restocking of supplies
  • Troubleshoot issues with HVAC system, lighting and indoor climate control as necessary
  • 2+ years janitorial experience preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Strong attention to detail, thoroughness in every aspect of work
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 30 pounds as necessary
  • Knowledge of cleaning tools and sterilization methods
  • Capacity to take direction and flexibility. Ability to work very early morning shifts
  • Self-motivated and able to work well under minimal supervision
  • Must have use of vehicle for daily duties (mileage reimbursed)
  • Monday – Friday 7 AM – 1 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday 10 AM – 12 PM
