The Town is in need of a Seasonal Maintenance Worker! The job description is as follows:

Position: Maintenance Worker for Town of Esopus Parks & Rec Department

Summary: Hard-working and attentive grounds maintenance worker sought for part/full-time work at Esopus Townhall. Serves under the direction of the Parks Department and Town Supervisor. Email resume to Supervisor@Esopus.com.

Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Maintenance Worker for the 2019-2020 season. The ideal candidate for this position is perseverant, flexible and willing to take on non- routine special projects and repairs as the need arises. The person will be primarily responsible for maintaining the grounds and amenities of the various parks and properties owned by the Town of Esopus. They will also need to use their vehicle to run errands to the post office and bank.

Duties:

  • Maintain parks and Town properties including lawnmowing, weed whacking and trimming
  • Uses own vehicle for daily mail and bank courier pick up / drop off
  • Keep sidewalks clear of snow and maintain recreational areas including sports fields/courts
  • Handle basic building repairs and maintenance of Town park amenities
  • Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests
  • Perform minor repairs and notify supervisor of major repairs needed
  • Ensure amenities such as restrooms are maintained and fully equipped, including ordering and restocking of supplies

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older, have a clean driver’s license and use of car
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience preferred
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 80 pounds as necessary
  • Super handy, able to do repairs and strong attention to detail in every aspect of work
  • Knowledge of maintenance tools and techniques
  • Capacity to take direction and be flexible
  • Willing to work early mornings and weekends
  • Self-motivated and able to work well under minimal supervision

Schedule:

  • Up to 40 hours per week including weekends until Dec 1st. After Dec 1st 16 hours per week on a call-in, as-needed basis
  • Approximate hours: 10 AM – 3 PM Mondays through Thursdays. All day Friday. Also Saturdays 4 hours and Sundays 4 hours, exact times TBD according to park event schedule
  • $14/hour
