Visit Esopus NY

Esopus isn’t just a creek in New York… it’s a great town that’s in between Kingston, New Paltz and Poughkeepsie! And close to Woodstock, Saugerties, Rhinebeck, Hyde Park, Rosendale, and so many other Mid-Hudson Valley destinations. But why stop there, when we have so much to offer right in town?

Outdoors

Esopus’ natural beauty is our greatest asset. We have a bounty of nature preserves, Hudson River shoreline, lakes and reservoirs that are great for hiking, fishing and kayaking. We also have parks and pavilions that are available for public use and rental.

History

John Burroughs and Sojourner Truth made an impact on the world during and after their time living in Esopus. Their local legacies are preserved with the John Burroughs Sanctuary and our Sojourner Truth statue in Port Ewen. For a deeper look into their lives, the Klyne Esopus Historical Society Museum traces our history from the Esopus Indians to the present day.

Family-Friendly Businesses

Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Houses on Route 9W in Ulster Park brings scares, and the property is also home to Frosty Fest in November and December. We’re also home to Wood N’ Wheel Family Fun Center, which offers paintball, laser tag, roller skating, and many more activities. When the time is right, you can pick your own apples and pumpkins at Maynard's Family Farms on   River Road.
